AMD RX 6500 XT may be coming soon

The highly anticipated AMD RX 6500 XT, the alleged upcoming and budget-friendly graphics card, has surfaced in a Lenovo gaming PC. So that makes it more and more likely that the release of the cheap GPU is approaching, as previously speculated.

This leaked Lenovo PC in question is the Legion T5 PC. The reference to the desktop has already been taken offline. However, hardware leaker Komachi_Ensaka was able to capture some images, and posted this on Twitter (which was noticed by VideoCardz).

The specs of the Legion T5 showed that one of the possible builds includes a Radeon RX 6500 XT, with 4GB GDDR6 video memory. Apart from the display outputs (HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4a), no further specs were given.

Lenovo supposedly released this graphics card by accident and then realized its mistake and removed the listing.

Analysis: A hopeful sign that the budget GPU market is getting some attention

We’ve been hearing rumors of the RX 6500 series’ arrival since March 2021, and more recent reports say the graphics card will hit store shelves sometime in January. The GPU is rumored to have 1,024 stream processors (and is based on the Navi 24 GPU). It is also suggested that a cheaper RX 6400 model with 768 stream processors (and also 4GB RAM).

While 4GB of RAM doesn’t sound very impressive for the RX 6500, it should be more than enough for 1080p gaming if you set the graphics settings to medium. This is a general estimate as game performance will of course vary by title.

The GPU market is clamoring for more budget-friendly options right now, so the emergence of the RX 6500 is a good sign of more choice to come. Nvidia will also launch some cheaper GPUs, with the RTX 3050 reportedly on the way. This one would also be there in January, but there are also rumors reporting Q2 of 2022.

Team Green has now also officially launched the RTX 2060 12GB (silently), but in practice it is not yet available, much to the frustration of many gamers.
