CES website calls Samsung QD OLED television with 144Hz refresh rate and HDMI 2.1

The CES organization presents an innovation prize to a Samsung 65″ QD-Display TV. The accompanying text shows that the television will receive four HDMI 2.1 inputs and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The CES website also mentions the ‘Object Tracking Sound ‘ technology from Samsung and a ‘2022 Neo Quantum’ processor.

Further details about the television are not yet known and no images are available yet. It is unclear what the television will cost or when it will be available. Earlier this week, Samsung announced new televisions during CES, but the manufacturer did not mention QD OLED models.

According to reports from South Korea, Samsung would have changed its announcement plans at the last minute, FlatpanelsHD also writes. Samsung has confirmed to that the company will not announce QD OLED TVs during CES. The company does hint that it will come up with news about such TVs at a later date, but when is not yet known. A Samsung spokesperson told CNET that the company will share more details about its lineup of new TVs for 2022 “in the coming weeks.”

Screen manufacturer Samsung Display has been working on QD-OLED panels for some time. Such screens combine blue OLED pixels with quantum dots. In addition, red and green color filters are used to create sub-pixels of those colors. That would provide a higher brightness and greater color range than LG’s OLED screens. According to previous rumors, Samsung will release QD OLED televisions with 55″ and 65″ panels this year, while a larger 70″ model would follow later.
