Ubisoft postpones Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora release to 2023 or 2024

Ubisoft has postponed the release of the first-person game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora to a later date in 2023 or 2024. The company did not give an exact reason for the delay. The game was originally supposed to be released in 2022.

The news was announced during Ubisoft’s latest quarterly earnings release. In it, CEO Yves Guillemot states that Ubisoft wants to grow the franchise into a brand and must be active in the gaming market for several years. It is also important for the man that the game can use the graphical computing power of the current generation of consoles.

Ubisoft also stated during the quarterly earnings discussions that the company will reveal further future plans for Assassin’s Creed next September. It will also organize an event for this.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was first announced in 2017 and was due to release in 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna. In 2021, Ubisoft released a first-ever trailer showcasing pre-rendered footage of the first-person game. The trailer contains no gameplay. From the description of the trailer at the time, it appears that the game takes place on a different part of planet Pandora than where the story from the 2009 film takes place.
