Windows 11 bug causes color issues on HDR monitors

Windows 11 has another bug. This time, the issue is causing colors to not display correctly on HDR monitors with some photo editing programs. The most common mistake is that white images are shown as bright yellow.

Tom’s Hardware notes that Microsoft is currently investigating the issue. The bug is listed in Microsoft’s list of known Windows 11 issues.

“After installing Windows 11, some photo editing programs don’t display colors properly on HDR displays. This usually occurs with white colors, which then look like yellow”, tells Microsoft.

“The problem happens when certain color processing causes an error. Not all color options are affected by the bug. We expect the color profiles in Windows 11 settings to still work properly.”

The bug appears in version 21H2 of Windows 11. Microsoft is working on a fix and expects to deliver it by the end of January.
