Windows 10 and Windows 11 Users to Encounter New Login Prompt for Microsoft Apps

Windows 10 and 11 users will soon notice changes when logging into Microsoft apps. A new prompt will ask if they want to use their Windows account for the login. This update is Microsoft’s response to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

From January, users on the latest Windows 10 and 11 versions will see the new prompt when they first log into a Microsoft app or service. It will suggest using their Windows login details for a seamless experience across other Microsoft apps on the same Windows system. For those who don’t wish to use the single sign-on feature, there’s an option to skip this and continue using the app if it allows. Alternatively, users can log in using a different account not connected to their Windows credentials. The introduction of this feature will commence in January, with full implementation expected by March.
