Samsung will have sold nearly 10 million foldable smartphones worldwide by 2021. That is about 300 percent more than in 2020. The South Korean manufacturer also announced a new Unpacked event that will take place on August 10.
About 70 percent of Samsung customers who bought a foldable smartphone from the South Korean manufacturer last year opted for the horizontally foldable Samsung Galaxy Z Flip smartphone, according to the company. About a third of Samsung customers reportedly opted for a Galaxy Z Fold device.
Samsung also announced its next Unpacked event. This will take place on August 10 this year and can be followed from 3 p.m. Dutch time on the Samsung website and the company’s YouTube channel. The event was given the slogan ‘Unfold Your World’. The company shared some teaser images showing folding smartphones.
At the end of May, the suspected specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 came out. This shows that the screens would be slightly less narrow. The primary camera would have a sensor with a resolution of 50 megapixels. With the Fold3, that was still 13 megapixels. The front camera on the inside of the device would get a sensor of 16 megapixels. The Galaxy Z Fold4 will reportedly get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 as a soc.
