The Tor Project wants it to be easier to integrate Tor within other apps and has made this one of the priorities for next year. More than two million people use the Tor network every day to protect their privacy and visit censored websites. In the Netherlands there are about 75,000 users, according to figures from the Tor Project.

Last September, the Tor Project decided to collaborate with Tails. This should ensure a greater reach and faster integration of features from one tool to another. Tails stands for The Amnesic Incognito Live System and is a fully Linux-based operating system specifically developed to protect the privacy and anonymity of users. Tails uses Tor Browser, which allows you to use the Tor network.

“Together, Tor and Tails provide essential tools that help people worldwide stay safe on the Internet,” said Isabela Bagueros, director of the Tor Project. “There is a lesson to be learned from joining Tails and our growth in recent years: together we are stronger.” Next year, Bagueros wants to focus on making it easier to integrate Tor within other apps. This should ensure that the ecosystem of ‘privacy-preserving tech’ becomes stronger together, according to the Tor Project director, who did not provide further details. Furthermore, next year the Tor Project will focus on training the community to be safe online.
