According to the online education platform CodingNomads, Python developers are now the most in demand in the United States. Then come the programming languages Java and JavaScript. Remarkably, Europe still has the highest demand for Java specialists. The demand for programmers for C, C++ and C# has decreased, but is still high, according to the researchers.
The high demand for Python developers is partly due to the properties of the programming language. The language is easy to learn, powerful and can be used for various purposes. The language is also widely used by data science, AI and machine learning. In 2022, the demand for Python specialists will also be unprecedentedly high, according to CodingNomads.
Number 1 position TIOBE Index
The TIOBE Index also shows that Python is currently incredibly popular. In the December 2021 edition of the overview of the most popular programming languages, Python has taken over the number 1 position from C. In the December 2020 index, Python was still in third place.
C is now in second place, followed by Java. The top ten programming languages in this month’s TIOBE Index also include C++ and C# in fourth and fifth place, Visual Basic and JavaScript in sixth and seventh place, and Assembly language and SQL in eighth and ninth place. At number ten is Apple programming language Swift.
