Kyndryl announces an intensive partnership with Google Cloud. This is to better support the modernization projects of companies.
Since Kyndryl officially launched in November as a managed infrastructure services provider, the company has been expanding its portfolio. Cloud services and data management are the focus of particular attention. The collaboration with Google Cloud is in line with this and should support customer modernization projects as well as possible. In addition, the collaboration should also contribute to further growth of Kyndryl and Google Cloud.
Different parts
Kyndryl and Google Cloud will make it possible to do more with data analytics. To do this, Kyndryl combines its data management services and integration capabilities with the cloud giant’s analytics and AI offerings. In addition, edge computing is part of the collaboration. The managed infrastructure services provider will launch a number of sector-specific solutions for this. The solutions leverage Google Cloud services to enable and extend connectivity, computing capabilities, and analytics at the edge of the network.
It is not known exactly what these services consist of. Experts think this includes the edge services that the cloud giant launched earlier this year. Think Google Distributed Cloud Edge. Kyndryl’s managed infrastructure services make it easier to deliver and manage these latter solutions to customers.
Workload migration
In addition, both parties will spend time on support for transferring workloads that are often still used on-premises to a public cloud environment. Think of transferring locally used SAP applications to a public cloud environment. Within the collaboration, Kyndryl will mainly focus on migrating SAP software.
Furthermore, both parties will focus on solutions for financial services. In particular, this involves providing solutions that companies in this sector need to modernize their IT operations using the cloud giant’s services.
Kyndryl also plans to certify half of its workforce for Google Cloud in the coming years. It has set up its own Google Cloud Academy for Kyndryl for this.
Other cooperation
The partnership between Kyndryl and Google Cloud is not an isolated one. Earlier, the managed infrastructure services provider also announced close partnerships with Microsoft, SAP and VMware. Of course we have to wait for an equal cooperation with AWS.
