Apple has recently been paying huge stock bonuses to employees. With this, the company wants to prevent these employees from switching to Meta, among others, Bloomberg reports.
According to Bloomberg, Apple has been trying to prevent talented employees, especially engineers, from transferring to other tech giants, especially Meta. These specific employees have therefore received extra bonuses, in the form of shares, between more than 44,000 euros (50,000 dollars) and 160,000 euros (180,000 dollars) in recent weeks to keep them committed to Apple.
Outside of normal working conditions
The bonus shares now paid are different from those in the normal terms of employment. Apple employees normally receive a base salary, a cash bonus and shares. In total, between 10 and 20 percent of Apple engineers in certain business units would have received the additional stock bonus.
A lot of attracting employees
Many large tech companies in Silicon Valley are looking for talent. Meta is said to have tempted about 100 Apple engineers to make a switch in recent months. These were mainly employees who work with AI.
Apple has been having a hard time keeping its staff lately. Partly because it has a strict return-to-office. Other tech companies still wouldn’t force their staff to return to the office.
