Apple recently released version 4 of Apple Swift Playgrounds. The tool helps in learning the Apple programming language Swift. In this way, for example, students can more easily develop applications for iPhones and iPads.
With the new version of Swift Playgrounds, users can learn to code in the open-source language of Apple Swift or improve their skills in this programming language. They can then develop applications for iPhones and iPads faster and more easily. This can be done directly on an iPad.
Real-time code preview
The tool provides all the functionality for a visual design of an application with the SwiftUI. In addition, development projects can be opened and modified in Swift Playgrounds or Xcode. In version 4, users will be able to see how changes in the underlying code affect applications. A real-time code preview has been introduced for this. This is even possible in a project shared within iCloud. In this way, several users can work on a project at the same time and immediately see the result.
Other functionality
The new version also allows code upload to the App Store. Version 4 of Swift Playgrounds now includes functionality that brings applications directly to App Store Connect. Another addition is smart inline suggestions for code. This should make it easier to write code quickly, but also easier to learn the syntax and best practices.
Furthermore, Swift Playgrounds v4 has also received a Snippets Library. This ‘library’ contains hundreds of easy-to-use SwiftUI controls, symbols and colors. These can be used for projects. As a result, users should be able to quickly start developing their applications.
Version 4 of Swift Playgrounds requires the most recent version of iPadOS, version 15.2. The tool can be downloaded for free from the App Store and is also available for Mac desktops and laptops.
