It’s not an exciting time for gaming laptops right now, but Asus may be about to change that. Thanks to a listing with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), we know more about the upcoming ROG Strix G15. The laptop will, according to the report, get a new Ryzen 6000 processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.
The GPU is a less surprising addition, which we have seen before in a rumor. However, we see the CPU here for the first time. According to the leak, the laptop will have a Ryzen 6900HX processor.
It’s still early days, so we can’t say for sure that these specs are accurate. According to MyLaptopGuide, the Ryzen 9 6900HX will be a processor with 8 cores and 16 threads, just as much as the Ryzen 9 5900HX. In addition to this CPU, the laptop also gets an RTX 3080 Ti and 32GB of RAM.
We don’t know the exact specifications of the processor yet, but CES 2022 tech fair is getting closer. We may hear more there.
Analysis: AMD’s comeback
Intel recently launched a new line of CPUs. This is the first serious competition AMD has had in recent years. At the moment, the company only has the 7nm Ryzen 5000 processors to compete with Intel. But that may now change.
We haven’t heard much about AMD’s Zen 4 CPUs yet, while the Zen 3 series has been out for over a year. We may get more information at CES 2022. The question is whether AMD has an answer to Intel’s powerful Alder Lake CPUs.
