Veeam plans to make its own Salesforce data backup tool available to customers. A major update to Veeam Backup & Replication 11a is also planned.
In an internal memo, Veeam hinted at an upcoming launch of a commercial version of its proprietary backup tool for Salesforce data. The commercial version, dubbed Veeam Backup for Salesforce, is based on an internal Salesforce backup tool. This tool, which has been in use for two years, protects Veeam’s own Salesforce data.
Functionality
The tool backs up Salesforce data and related metadata to any environment. Whether on-premises or in public cloud environments. Initially the public cloud environments AWS and Azure, but more will follow.
The service also makes it possible to quickly recover the Salesforce data after loss or damage. In addition, the solution also protects against security threats or human errors. Finally, the upcoming Veeam Backup for Salesforce product offers companies the opportunity to simplify compliance and reduce risk. A private beta of the tool is already available.
Update for Veeam Backup & Replication 11a
In addition to the arrival of Veeam Backup for Salesforce, a major update for Veeam Backup & Replication 11a is also on the way. A cumulative patch should include a new platform version for Windows, Linux, Oracle and SAP, among other things. The new version brings performance improvements, but also new functionality such as AMI instance type selection during restore actions.
In addition, Veeam Backup for AWS 4a will be available soon in the AWS Marketplace. It is unknown when this update will be released.
